Simple but elegant

I can't think of anything you need to change. The Portal references are funny, but like someone else said, you can design another story that is similar but stands on its own. However, the 10-minute-whatever comment is pretty funny.

I do hope to see a sequel. I was sad that the game was over so quickly. I think you found a pretty good concept here.

Visually nice but nothing to write home about

As others have said, there was nothing new in this gameplay. It is a simple concept, but I can see it being a good concept to cut one's teeth on.

But, I give a lot of credit to the artwork. It is very sharp-looking, and I played as long as I did just because of how it looked.

One word of advice is to not describe your game as "an awesome game." Let others do the bragging for you. If the game is worth it, then everyone else will sing your praise. If not, then you only doom the game to ridicule.

Fun little distraction

I thought this went pretty well.

The one suggestion I would have is to have some sort of buffer along the edge, as some of us are a bit crazy in our game-playing and can easily shoot the mouse off the screen. Otherwise, it is fun.

A nice system of defenses

I do agree that it is impossible to defend your people. There really is no relationship to chess aside from the chessboard battleground. In chess, you can actually protect your pieces. In fact, it's one of the defining qualities of chess, and it's missing here.

Aside from that omission, it still requires tactics to play this game. I like how important it is to time the hard strikes.

But it is a nice little battle simulation. I would suggest the following to make the battles even more interesting:
* Include some possible terrain to use. I liked how the temple hallway was narrow. If a lake or something could be included, that would add some tactical sense. I haven't gotten that far yet, so I apologize if you added this later.
* Allow some pieces to defend others. Perhaps a Defender that goes on "overwatch" with some movement pieces. As an enemy tries to get at your more important pieces, the Defender slashes.
* Allow some pieces to modify the battlefield. Perhaps turn some squares into mud so it takes 2 moves. Or perhaps even erect barriers.

Keep up the good work.

Very stylish game

Good retro sound sets the mood of this game. Very simple graphics, but it works well.

Simple but elegant!

I absolutely love playing this game. The concept is pretty simple, but there is some thought required in order to quickly dispatch of your opponents before they can dispatch of you.

If I had to make some suggestion, I'd like to see the ranking system be less fluid. I had over 4000 in my ranking, but it fell back down pretty easily after a few fluke games.

Good puzzle game

It's not something that holds my attention for too terribly long, but it is enjoyable. People are more into puzzle games will have the patience to go far in this. The blue lasers seemed fairly annoying in their curvature. I would have liked to see some guides to have an idea of where the lasers will go. Sadly, I don't have a suggestion on how to make the guides work.
